Spring on the Ranch
Its a very windy day here on the ranch. The hills and field are turning green. Spring has finally arrived, although the wind today has a bit of a chill in the air. Calving is winding down. The cows have been moved to some greener pastures. They were very happy cows. We were grateful for a bit of green grass as the hay is almost gone. Hoping for a bumper hay crop this year. Last year our hay was hurt by repeated frost and drought. It looks very dry right now as the wind continues to blow. Big clouds of dust dot the valley as farmers prepare and plant the land. Soon we will need rain to get all the planted seeds growing. We went and picked up seed today and our planting will begin soon. Branding the calves is next on the agenda. Everyone likes to join us that day. The kids hate to miss branding day. We wouldn't be able to get it done without their help. May is almost here and I think May is the prettiest time of the year because everything is so green.
